The large room on the first floor is a
multipurpose space. It can be used as a family or game room, an
office, a studio, workshop, or even another bedroom--the
possibilities are endless!
The space is framed by five large
double-paned clad
Pella
windows that look
over a canal that meets the Chincoteague
Bay at approximately 500 feet.
Opposite the windows are a
circular wall and two entrances to the hallway that surrounds
the circular stairs leading to the second level.
In addition to the many ways the space in this room could be
used, it also could be divided into another large bedroom or two
smaller ones. Because there are no weight bearing internal
walls, a framed wall can be constructed anywhere with no
difficulty.
The entire room is surrounded by walls
covered with gray acoustic wall covering. This wall covering
provides
-
an attractive and unique alternative to wallpaper and paint,
-
easy cleaning by simply vacuuming,
-
a sound-absorbing quiet environment
-
a great environment for listening to or playing music,
-
a decorator’s dream because the fabric conceals nail holes and
there are no studs to search for or sheet rock to pierce. Every
inch of the wall covering is available for use and decoration.
Light weight items can even be attached with Velcro.
The room has an alternate source of heat
in the form of a wall mounted vent-free
propane gas heater.
This “room for all seasons” faces west and affords a beautiful
view of the canal in front of the house and the
Chincoteague Bay. Watching year-round sunsets is an
extra bonus!
